Thank you for the answer. Naturally, the question came from one of these translations - in this case, the Bulgarian one. I've had the original for years and recently came across the translated version and decided to get it. Turned out to be a mistake. The translation itself is quite okay, the thing is that there are literally pages of content missing from it, and they are not small edits but major parts that reveal a lot about the events and the characters.

I did my homework and checked for any specific restrictions and censorship, and there is nothing like this. It would seem that local publishers just decided that some parts are not important, and others can be completely changed.

I truly hope this has been just a single event and it would not turn out that the book has been vandalized in other countries, as well. However, maybe all of us here, reading this, can get a copy of the book (books in the future) in their language and just do the right thing.

I realize this is from 2 years ago, but just in case the interest is still there I can vouch that the Dutch translation is very good! It was my love for the Dutch translation that pushed me to read the original English version haha. The only mistake I could find was that in one scene where M says he's 'only fucking with' R they translated that literally... which definitely did not make sense in the context of the scene but I find it quite funny haha
