Lillis Lish Inwriting and publishing Cracks in the Sidewalk I overcame my writer's block. It deals with a very emotional and tragic time in my life. Writing this book brought and freedom and peace.

Dwayne Fry I've never had writer's block but it sounds awful. Not being able to write would be about like not being able to use your arms. I'm glad you beat it, Lillis.

Paigegirl I take a break for a while to get my thoughts together.

Dwayne Fry Hi Paigegirl. I just noticed your comment. I don't believe I got a message when you posted. Yes, taking a break would probably be good if and when writer's block comes along. It's never happened to me, but if it did, I will try your advice.

Shoshanah Marohn Neither do I! I thought I was the only one.

Rachel Eovacious I am having trouble continuing my story, because although am I in the midst of a very climatic scene, I just find it boring! Any advice?

Dwayne Fry Hi Rachel. I don't know why I don't get notices every time someone asks a question. Sorry! I hope you're not still stuck on your story. If so, what I would do is set it aside a while and work on another project. I know a lot of writing guides say to focus on one thing at a time, but I find I am happier and the writing continues to flow if I allow myself to drift from one thing to another. And when I come back to a piece that was frustrating me before, I find that my interest is usually renewed. If not, I move on to something else. I never fully abandon anything though. There's always a chance I will come back to a project and become interested in it again.
