Well, they are less funny and more intimate in that self discovery, in a way. It deals with China's historical relationship with the Gou'auld. Much like how they use the Egyptian and Greek gods come to life. I get the sense also Botsford didn't want Lord Yu to look all that bad of a "bad guy." Four Dragon is book 1 and Drift is book two of the Stargate SG1 Diana Dru Botsford's story additions to he series.
