I wish you could have heard the little gasp and following "OoOoOoOo" I just made. xD
I didn't have a ghostly encounter until last year, though I've always been a big believer. I was doing my rounds, checking my part of the library for lingering patrons during closing time. I walk very briskly past the stacks when I do this. I walked past a stack and saw someone standing there, but because it was late and I was tired, I was a few steps ahead by the time I managed to stop. When I took three steps backward, there was no one there! It had definitely been a woman, but I didn't really get any clear features. I know there was a children's librarian who worked here and she died very suddenly and unexpectedly, so I like to think it's Marian the Librarian. :)
That's awesome! You should totally write a book about a library ghost. It's strange, but the other night I had a dream that I was at my parents' house and an old lady showed up claiming she'd lived there as a child and her family were the first residents. Then she started wandering to various rooms and revealing secret cubby holes where she'd hidden things as a kid. I may have to write this now, combine it with my ghost sighting.
