Davinia I really love that you don't follow the "more sex route". I am a mature adult and I do read more adult books if the story is good enough (-> Nalini Singh). But I get really tired of reading fantasy and paranormal romance (emphasis on romance) that is full of more sex scenes than story. And even in Nalini's books, which I love, I find myself skipping the sexscenes to get to the story.

I don't mind some scenes, but it's really not necessary to go very much into details. I often find myself gravitating to YA books after reading a few "adult" books just to get a break from the sex. I also feel like it's a thing some authors are being pushed into because of the 50 shades fad (and seriously, those books weren't even good!).

Give me a story with some more romance and build up please and a great storyline. If I'm interested in something more sexy, I'll find my husband :P

Anastasia I also love how you've approached the subject of romance without taking away from the stories themselves with too many explicit details. Having first the Study and Healer trilogies in middle and high school, I enjoyed being able to understand what was happening in a mature way, without feeling upset at too many details. I also wasn't afraid to share my love of these books with friends (though Poison Study did recieved a caution for friends), and gladly did so.
Having out-grown the actual need for cautionary writing about romance, I still love to spend time rereading your and other authors' young adult books, specifically because it feels like an escape from the all too common explicit scenes in adult fantasy romance. After all, when you stop and think, it can sometimes be hard to escape recall the last romance you've read or had recommended to you that did not contain explicit content. Reading a book that is romance, just for the sake of romance, instead of romance, for the sake of sex, is relaxing and can feel freeing as opposed to being smothered in the exact same 'steamy' scenes that are found in every book.
As a reader, thanks!

Shannon In Canada we shelve it in adult fantasy. I love that it can be recommended to younger readers too though!
