Sydney Betts Yes. Watching the PNG tribe react when the gospel was eventually introduced was so amazing that I will never forget it. As far as setting, I thought of one other aspect after I'd already posted my reply: I am guessing (no proof, just a gut instinct) that a setting that is unlike the readers' own setting helps the Biblical truths to drop into their hearts with less resistance. From the feedback I've received, as the protagonist moves through the story, readers ask themselves what they would do if placed in her situation, which leads to reflecting about their own hearts. I suspect--again, just a suspicion based on my own ways of reacting--that they might react more defensively if the books portrayed situations in which they regularly find themselves. What do you think?
