Edoardo Albert Thank you! I hope it goes smoothly (I've got to get it written by the middle of October, which doesn't give me much time!).

Edoardo Albert I hope you will enjoy Oswiu when you get the chance to read it - do tell what you think of it if you have the time.

Leila Bowers I am thrilled to hear this! I love your Northumbrian trilogy, and was just telling some others how much I hoped you would write a book about/around Alfred, as there is so little about him and his time period, when it was so essential to English history (and arguably Western - dare I say global?).

message 8: by Edoardo (new)

Edoardo Albert Thank you! I hope you will like the new book - it will be very, very different from the Northumbrian Thrones. The 'hero' is a sort of early Medieval Flashman whose only redeeming feature is that he knows perfectly well that he has no redeeming features! I wanted to write something in a different vein after the Thrones, yet continuing with the discipline of commitment to actual historical events and people. Let's hope it works!

Leila Bowers That will be interesting! Antihero, or simple villain? You danced close to that with a few of your Northumbrian characters - I applaud your willingness to challenge yourself!

message 10: by Edoardo (new)

Edoardo Albert Definitely antihero, not villain (although those subject to some of his plans might think otherwise). I do enjoy stretching myself as a writer and in this one, as well as an engrossing story, I'm hoping to make the reader laugh or gasp at the hero's deeds.
