Heh, interesting! I tend to write myself into a dead end if I don't have a good idea of what kind of thing I'm writing at the outset. I admire you pantsers. :)
Oh I do end up with a outline before I begin the writing proper, so I'm not a complete pantser. But my outlines remain fairly loose so I don't find myself locked into a particular story trajectory.
