Ok, so a few minutes to spare! I start by reading into a subject - as many good secondary sources as possible. They will have end notes etc, which I will then follow up - especially primary source material. There is plenty that is printed (I sue the London Library for these if poss, as it is a lending library) and much is now online - State Papers for example. I also read Manuscripts i for example the British Library, but also in all sorts of archives. For example I had the great privilege with my latest book in being given access to the closed private archives at Belvoir castle. the greatest private collection of civil war mss in the world. I always speak to experts and am very grateful for the help and support of many academics. I hope that helps, very best wishes, Leanda
