Hey, Steven! Perhaps you want to consider giving copies of your manuscript to beta readers. Beta readers are readers who look at unpublished works and provide their authors with feedback. An author can request that beta readers share their thoughts on a given work's grammar, structure, plot, and everything in between. They're an excellent resource in that they enable one to identify areas which can be improved upon before a novel is published. Anyone can function as a beta reader, friends and family included. However, it is typically recommended that one avoid having solely friends and family serve as beta readers; the reasoning behind this is that someone who knows you might not always be as honest with you as you'd like them to be.
