I applied this same mindset when I was a first a civilian photographer and later as a USAF Combat Photojournalist. At the advent of Photoshop technology, I saw it being used unethically in order to shift the narrative of a scene for political and sometimes racist reasons -- as a photographer now I refuse to even own the Photoshop program!
In my photo classes, I tell people that they're handling a "Time Machine" that snatches fragments out of the "Time Stream" for future generations to see and it is our duty to be purveyors of truth and nothing but the truth of what was actually transpiring before us!
