I am mightily impressed by your 1,000 words a day. My head is like the building site, but I gradually tidy it and empty it as I type. I also just follow the characters and record what they do, rather than tell them what to do. It leads to surprises! But I have an ending in mind when I start, so I'm not floundering in the fog, I can walk a straight path without getting too lost along the way. You need a guiding light hung at the finishing post to aim towards, I personally find.
