This is why you're my favorite author. You're the most brilliant young writer out there, and don't pretend you like what everyone else's supposed to be crazy about. We needed you, not just in the NA genre, but in the contemporary literature. The more you talk about your ideas and ideals, the more I admire you.
You have no idea how much it means to me to have you answer my question with so much heart, so much honesty. I agree with every word you've written. For me, I don't want to conform, either. It's just not in me to like the "misogynistic bad boy meets wangsty, virginal girl" storyline, which we all know plagues the genre of NA. I want more depth than that, and I got that with Unteachable. For me, I don't know if the NA story I'm writing is really worth anything, but I'll try my very best and I hope that counts for something. Anyway, thanks for your wonderful answer. :)

Yes, again! I just feel so happy to know other women like you - and the women commenting, too - are thinking this way. I'm so tired of "White & Uptight" stories. Amazing words of advice, you are quickly becoming my hero for so many reasons
Just to let you know that there are loads of amazing authors who do write books featuring LGBT characters, aren't based on the general chick-lit formula. Most are obviously in the high-brow section e.g. Bidisha ShonarKoli Mamata (writes for The Guardian - a UK Pulitzer prize broadsheet, feminist, author and lesbian). There's also The Pink Hotel by Anna Southard about a 17 yo, which has a Fear & Loathing aspect to it. The feminists authors are out there but they tend to be on the higher end of intellectual market rather than your 50 Shades of Misogynistic Capitalist Bull$hit.

I think you were wonderful in Unteachable by including People of Colour. You don't really see that that much in romance.
I just stumbled upon you after reading a review and .. your book got suggested from another reader. I am so glad I did. I love what you just wrote in here. Looking forward to reading your books!
