Am glad you didn't tone down the darker scenes in the Poison Study series. I was in my mind/late teens when I started and it was refreshing to read! Set the series apart because it was so different from all the other YA books.
I too can relate to the trauma Yelena went through, i have named my Rhodesian Ridgeback Yelena she had a traumatic rough start in life and since i rescued her in sept last year her personality and trust have shone through along with her unconditional love
