My best friend had a horrible time reading the first book, so she eventually listened to it on tape. She is now the biggest Potter head I have ever met. Just a recommendation since you seem to have tried Harry Potter and could not get into it. Not every book is for every person though.
I wanted to get into the Harry Potter books, but never could. Perhaps I should try the audiobook as well.
