But...but...why?....
I'll do a full blog post on it once the book comes out. But the short of it is that it wasn't intended. It just kind of happened as the scene played out and I was writing it down, and the more I looked at it, the more I realized that it did a number of things to strengthen the story and the whole series.
Also, my editor threatened to leave a horse's head in my bed if I changed it.
I deleted my earlier comment b/c I wasn't sure we were talking about The Big Thing. (There are a lot of smaller things in this book that I won't spoiler here that could fit into this conversation.) If we are talking about The Big Thing, then your editor is a genius. I hate that you did it, but I love the way you did it. A powerful scene, but I'd expect no less. Interested to see where the series goes, now.
