I like to imagine in the future Eric will fix events caused by the evil orb and of course another catastrophe will occur with Rethven and there will be a need to travel back in time. However, Eric having already done it once and knowing the danger it can cause the timeline will refuse to go. Diogense being the likely candidate; going back further we discover the Heru are actually Diogeclones and created Rethven.
Possibly. Eric would have to go for the full AI package, though, in a Diogenes upgrade, first.
On the other hand, whose to say Eric isn't some eternal hero, constantly going back in time in the Gate-loop, always trying to fix things and failing? ...and always hoping his next loop will be the loop where he gets it all right!
