What do you do if you read a book and did not care for it? Do you leave an honest review, or skip giving a review all together? There have been a few books that couldn't get through and did not leave a review. I want to build authors up but I also want to be honest.
That has been a dilemma for me too! I don't think we are all meant to like or love every book. I have noticed my mood or life situation also plays a big role in how much I like a book. Seems like our star review system is a bit out of whack too, use to be three stars was pretty good. I am with you I want to be honest yet build authors up. The books I can't finish I don't leave reviews. Not sure how to balance though. Just because a book isn't for me doesn't mean someone else won't love it??
You and I are on the same page. (Pun intended). It's like music. Just because I don't care for a song, doesn't mean it's bad. However, If I ever here the "Macarena" song again, I my head will explode.:)
You might want to read this lol! I know you are still humming it in your head right now 😉🎵🎶

Love that you give other authors reviews when these days people are so reluctant to do so. There are ways to help people in how things are phrased. Honesty is appreciated and reviews so important.
I always do where I can because readers supporting writers helps writers get better at their craft. Writers supporting writers helps us keep going.
I think reviews, even if we don't like a book can be given in a way that is helpful. Barbara, you give wonderful feedback! I am still working on my reviews, I get review performance anxiety lol!
