Such great advice! I'm a public high school teacher too. I teach AP/Honors and I teach ELD. I recently went to a meeting where we were reminded to tell the ELD kids that they are bilingual! To help them remember see that they need to take pride in the fact that they are performing at the high school level in a second, and sometimes, third language. I needed to change my mindset of focusing on strength, rather than viewing these students as the ones who are struggling the most. So now, I call my ELD students 'my bilingual students' instead.
