For me, definitely Beta Colony.
I so want to live in a world with uterine replicators! Going on 6 years of unexplained infertility... I sometimes am so jealous of the people on Beta, etc. LOL
I would chose Barrayar, anytime during Gregor’s reign.
Yeah, I don't think I'd be able to cope with Barrayar long term, even as a male. The "because that's what we've always done!" mentality drives me up the wall to the point that I'd probably end up channeling Cordelia a tad too much. Sergyar? I'd be willing to try Beta at least even if I hate heat (ironic after spending a lifetime in Los Angeles). I have to agree with Lois, all romance aside, the pre-industrial worlds are fascinating to read about but not for the weak of heart or infirm of body (at least not for long). As much as I'd love to have a cup of coffee with Caz, et al, I don't think I would be able to live there for long given my current ailments. It's an interesting question that I don't often think about.
