Will Austin Hey there! Just watched your Ted-Ed video on Aphids. Loved it! I came to your GoodReads profile to add your book, "Ingredients..." to my bookshelf. That's how I came across this question!

Do you mean to say an efficient and logical way to store and retrieve information in your mind or in a computer program such as OneNote? Thanks! :D

George Zaidan Hey Will! Thanks for the note! Honestly, as long as it's efficient and logical, doesn't matter if it's computer or paper. Have you heard of the zettelkasten method? It's a note taking system, and the original version was conceived using over 100,000 notecards or something like that. To keep track of research for the book I used Scrivener. It's not really designed for that, but it worked pretty well. Next time I might use something like Tinderbox or Bear.

Will Austin You bet! I'm an entomologist myself, so I was a big fan of the video. And ya know, I hadn't heard of zettelkasten...and so I proceeded to go down the rabbit hole and emerge multiple hours later, hahaha. The method seems great! I'm early in my career and I feel as if I'm reaching a critical mass of information stored hierarchically. Zettelkasten seems like an excellent solution. Last night, I read multiple articles, watched some videos about it, and dove into the zettelkasten website.

My one disappointment is that most of the community (and therefore software) is MacOS-focused. At least the method itself can be implemented without much need for gizmos and gadgets, but it would be nice to have a program as a "homebase," if you will. I'll keep looking around for a Windows solution.

Bottom line is, thank you very much! I think this will be really helpful.

George Zaidan Glad to help! Thanks for the kind words re: the video. It was a lot of fun to make.
