Personally, I am highly offended at how unbelievably cool, funny and smart Mark Watney is. It's inaccuracies like this in science fiction that give the entire genre a bad name. ;-)
You have to feel a little sorry for people who are too pedantic to enjoy a good story.
do you have an engineering background? did you have go-to people for figures, calculations, etc.?
how accurate did you represent that lander, particularly, that boot sequence?
P.S. Not a Type 2 mistake finder. Just curious. : )
