Karin Yes, although I find reading books written by anglophones from the Commonwealth published with American spelling disconcerting because the spelling doesn't match the writer's voice most of the time.

A.M. Stuart Where I can, I try to stick to my own Australian/UK spelling and I now use a note at the front of the book or story to advise readers that is what I am using. I know as a reader I have the opposite problem... US writers using USA English for books set in the UK. The first 'gotten' I come to jerks me right out of the story so I can see how it is irritating. No easy answers!

Stacy Tomaszewski I like UK spelling when it's appropriate to the book. I'm an American (granted, an Anglophile American) and I don't find it difficult to switch between British and American spelling. It feels like a very petty complaint to make to an author. :)
