Bodice Ripper
Bodice ripper is a pejorative term for romance in general that has been recycled to refer to a specific sub-genre of historical romance. Epic in scope and usually featuring more violent sexual content, bodice rippers are the books that ushered in the era of the modern romance novel. Generally published in the 1970s and 1980s.
