Countries

[close] Feminism and women's rights are a global issue, although we often focus on the happenings of a select few countries. The aim of this book club is to expand our horizons and read works by feminist authors and/or about women's rights from around the world. As many people have noted, it is not a trivial task to define what is meant by 'country.' Ann Morgan identifies 196 'countries' in her quest to #ReadTheWorld while the UN lists 193 member countries. [close] Each month, one will read a book of their choice coming from a given country and share thoughts about it as they read it, or after they are done. The point is to step out of our comfort zone and discover authors from various places in the world. It is acceptable to pick a book that was written by, say, an Iranian-American person, but the challenge should be to browse and pick something that you wouldn't have picked otherwise. It can still be your genre or medium of choice (i.e. graphic novel, horror novel, YA novel, non-fiction, etc.). There is no pressure to read a new book each month, you can skip some.

[close] A group where people from all over the world can talk with people from different places in the world. Roleplays will be available. But, the 1x1's will be different, join to find out how!
