It was named thus five centuries ago, and for five centuries our sacred traditions have been practised here. We worship a pantheon known only to us, for only to us have they revealed themselves. We are the special ones, the chosen ones upon whom they have bestowed knowledge of their divine mysteries. 'Tis our job to serve them, to worship them, to live as they would have us in their strange utopia. "Praise the Gods." The location of Helig is known only to a select few, those trusted to travel to other countries to recruit new worshippers. The island's mysteries are closely guarded from the outside world, so initiates are carefully chosen. This is a strange place, a place where modern ways are shunned, a television of a thing of legend and human sacrifice is just as much a part of daily life as prayer. This is a place of light and shadow, of fear and wonder, of harrowing beauty. It may be your sweetest dream, or a terrible nightmare from which not only the deep waters surrounding you forbid your escape. "The Gods are ever-watchful."
