[close] The Festival? The King's Festival? The King's festival is the most anticipated event of the year. It is lavish and filled with games, dancing and beautiful people. And what most people like about it is that all ages and classes may attend but what they don't know is the festival is a cover for a dark secret. It is a showcases the poor to the rich, so the rich may pick an ideal surrogate from the poor.

[close] The year is two thousand and sixteen. It’s been a year since Minerva McGonagall stepped down as Headmistress, to be replaced by Estella Bennett. The Second Wizarding War is over, and everything is back to normal. Well, as normal as it can be when you’re a teenage witch or wizard. In the years since Voldemort’s defeat, security has become more relaxed, and the Ministry has passed many new pieces of legislation to stop an uprising of a new Dark Lord, such as some magical creatures being given full legal personhood status, such as werewolves. Still, as much as the Ministry and Hogwarts are working together to try to reduce prejudice, the three ‘good’ houses are still ostracising the young Slytherins, which is thought by many historians to be one of the causes of Dark Lords in the first place ; they feel attacked, and as taught in Defence Against The Dark Arts, a good offence is the best defence. Students from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw are encouraged to befriend Slytherins, but this rarely happens except in secret, from fear of being ostracised themselves. Still, a new element is present this year to further encourage unity in the Wizarding World: a foreign exchange. Students from schools across the world have been invited to Hogwarts, and many have taken that offer up. Are you a Hogwarts student, trying to bring peace or trying to attack others? Or are you an exchange student, struggling with English, or finding new friends? Either way, remember to journey to Hogwarts on the first of September.
