[close] Iqraa (which means 'read' in Arabic) is a literary circle that reads works by contemporary Arab authors published in Arabic. We meet on every fourth Tuesday of the month at 8:30 pm. Note: All discussions are in Arabic and readers of any level are welcome. About Iqraa Iqraa formed in 2011 out of a concern around a lack of readership of Arabic literature. In the multi-cultural community of the UAE, the Arabic language is increasingly underused and Arabic readership is decreasing. Iqraa's vision is to promote the use of the Arabic language through readings and discussions of contemporary Arabic literature. We chose to read the books shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) as it provides a select and diverse group of Arabic fiction books that are chosen by a team of respected judging panel with the support of the Booker Prize Foundation in London and supported by the Emirates Foundation, a UAE based charity.

[close] This global discussion group has been designed to encourage debates about important and underreported issues of our era. All you need is an enquiring mind and a desire to gain or share “underground knowledge”. This is also a place to discuss the controversial topics explored in The Underground Knowledge Series (non-fiction books) by James Morcan & Lance Morcan as well as the Underground Knowledge podcast show.
