Futile pleas that it can be enough,
Rush out and buy more stuff.
Bake out in the sun to peel and fry,
Turn lobster red as tiny drones spy,
Stiffly inside to scream and moan,
A walking barbecue with an overdue loan.
The blaring alarm clock cracks the whip;
Shower, coffee, then a doom-scrolled trip!
Women apply warpaint on bus and train,
Call out sick — the malingerer’s strain.
