[close] In 2014, Lt. Col. Kate Germano headed up the Marine Corps' all-women boot camp battalion--the only all-women battalion in any of the U.S. military branches. When she arrived, she found women lagged behind men in every category, including injury rates, weapons qualification and academics. So, she conducted a reboot, and immediately saw improvements in every area. The Marine Corps response? They booted her for being "too abrasive."
