[close] On September 16 from 10am-10pm, I'll be answering questions all day about my debut novel, Couple Friends. I am a former high school English teacher who quit my job last summer after attending a skirt! magazine conference where Claire Cook and Emily Giffin's speeches inspired me to go after my dream of becoming a novelist. I also work as a freelance writer and social media strategist to pay the bills. My second novel, Keepsakes, is in the editing stages, and I have several eguides in the works about going after your writing dreams. I can't wait to chat with all of you! Given the topics related to postcolonial life are always sensational and controversial (like the identity wars), this group is built upon the belief that the contexts are always more complicated than the individual perspectives as for the insiders a topic as crucial as identity would be the elephant in the room. The suggestion for making use of this space is to observe how you agree and/or disagree with the posts and think about the nature of these points of difference. Personal and faithful perspectives (even if they conflict with each other on political standpoints) will all be respected.
