It was the birth of modern culture, celebrity, the birth of hot jazz and dance bands that would be synonymous with the era. Films, fashion and literature developed at a phenomenal rate. It was the era of prohibition and wild excess, all brought to an end with the Stock Market Crash of 1929. This group celebrates that era, and the many influences it left behind. [close] In time, I will seek beta readers from all backgrounds, but at the moment, I need gay men and African American beta readers to let me know if I got the story right. I'm finishing up my first novel set in a small town on the coast of North Carolina in 1923. It takes place during the salad days of Prohibition, and Beaufort is a hopping, rum-running kinda place. Lots of Jazz and Rag and booze. A captain and his boat go missing, and his brother suspects there is more to the story. The story is currently 90,000 words.
