[close] In a world where the only thing humanity knows is the truth, one group of people are trying their hardest to keep their own lives a secret. Living in the small town of Cyprus Hill can be pretty easy, if that's what you want it to be. The town is full of people from all ages, infant to elderly, but one age group overpopulates the town. This age group are the ages thirteen to nineteen... Teenagers. These kids are obedient, there isn't much of a between. Though, the catch about Cyprus Hill is quite a flip. No one lies. In another world, the majority of the teenage population says a lie daily, but here? The truth is always told, no one lies, everyone knows everything. The price for saying something that is false can result to prison or even execution. Except... One group of people are rebels. This one group consists of a few teenagers in Cyprus Hill, and these few teenagers aren't known well by the rest of the town. They live their lives in secret, keeping their whole existence to a minimum as they run around without a sound. This group of teenagers call themselves The Cryptic Secret. They believe that keeping things from each other isn't so bad. They are the ones that lie. They are the ones that run Cyprus Hill's black market. They are the ones that don't believe every bit of the truth is necessary. So.... Are you part of The Cryptic Secret? Or are you one of the 'Normals'?

[close] A place to discuss all the unique aspects of Deaf culture as highlighted in the thriller Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) by Lance & James Morcan. This group can also be an intersection of sorts where Deaf and hearing people can engage and learn from each other.

[close] As a writer of historical fiction - in fact, historical mysteries - I'm curious about how far readers feel one can push the facts. Kate Mosse, an old friend and author of Labrynth and Sepulchre, both set in SW France, is quite scrupulous in only using real-life characters in verifiable contexts. I am scrupulous in avoiding anachronisms, creating the correct atmosphere, and trying to reflect the general current of historical events - but I don't mind putting words into a sultan's mouth, for example. Having come to fiction from a history-writing background, perhaps I am more relaxed about specifics, and only try to get the feel right?
