[close] Welcome to the Baltimore Silent Book Club! We meet every two weeks at the Old Major. Bring a book, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy reading your book in the company of fellow book lovers. The book club kicks off at 6:30 PM with introductions and eating and drinking. The silent reading hour typically runs from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. [close] The United Alternative Interest Society is for those who live near the Cumberland, MD area (or not, I'm not too picky) with "alternative" interests and hobbies. This includes hobbies such as board gaming, RPGs, anime, and comic books, as well as more typical interests as movies, food, history, hiking, and reading. The real purpose of the group is to bring together like-minded folks to get to know one another and share our hobbies. This organization is intended to be safe and accepting of all people, regardless of race, gender, or whatever else. I myself am looking for fellow ladies to geek out with, so I would also strongly encourage women to join! This GoodReads group in particular is intended to be used for the UAIS Book Club, which will ideally be guided by said club members to choose suitably geeky books or comics, read them, and talk them over.
