[close] We're exploring the science, engineering, and math connections found in great children's literature. The titles for the next several months include: - The Cricket in Times Square (September) - The Wild Robot (October) - Mr. Popper’s Penguins (November) - The Vanderbeekers of 141st St (December) - Pie (January) - The Phantom Tollbooth (Feburary) - Book Scavenger (March) - How to Train Your Dragon (April) - Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (May) These titles are featured in the Brave Writer Arrow program, which is recommended for readers in grades 3-6. Activities are intentionally designed with a low floor and high ceiling where the group welcomes readers in grades 3-8.

[close] The idea here is to finding a list of novels (good reads) where the central character(s) is/are an engineer/physicist/mathematician (ie strong STEM model). We are especially interested in novels where the central character(s) is a female strong in STEM. Books from different genre, for ages groups and from different cultures are encouraged.
