[close] Jefferson Smith will be on-hand to monitor and respond to questions through to the end of August. (July 28, 2011 to August 31, 2011) There are three things that make this author different from others - and particularly interesting to get into discussions with. First, in addition to being a writer, he is also a scientist who studies the creative process and how computers can help (or hinder) creativity when people are trying to write fiction, compose music or paint digitally. Second, he used to work in Hollywood on animation and special effects films. If you've seen movies like Jurassic Park, Lion King, Aladdin, Terminator 2, etc., you've seen his work - and he brings much of what he learned there about creativity and adventure telling to his writing. Finally, this is an author who likes working with teens so much that he actually includes hundreds of them in his writing process - workshopping stories, characters, language and attitude with high-school kids across the Canadian prairies - both in the classroom and in workshop settings.
