[close] What's America Reading This Week? Each week the New York Times updates its list of the bestselling books in the United States and each month our group picks two of them. These are the books that everyone is reading; the future classics, academic required reading and Hollywood movies. Let's see what all the hype is about!

[close] Have you ever wanted to write but have NO CLUE what to write about? Well here that problem doesn't exist!!

[close] Hi! If you're like me, you've been flirting with joining a book club as a way to make friends and discover new books, as well as a motivation for more consistent reading. But you've also felt like you let yourself or the club down by not being able to finish a book in time, or felt guilty for not liking the book and not knowing what to say about it, and so on. Well, this is my idea for addressing those problems. No longer will guilt have a hold on you for not being able to plow through Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" in time. No longer will you shudder at the thought of reading 1,079 pages of "Infinite Jest", no matter how critically acclaimed David Foster Wallace's writing is. This is a book club focusing on those authors who chose to express themselves concisely, namely, in books under 150 pages long. Often, short stories, novellas, or simply condensed novels don't get the respect and appreciation they're worth. The literary world seems obsessed with series and books the size of concrete building blocks. And there's nothing wrong with that. But I've found it's often in the shortest texts that the truly haunting images hide. Good things come in small packages, as they say. Thus, I invite anyone who shares my appreciation for brevity and intensity to join me in this experimental book club. We will convene once a month. I will curate the first few meetings and make the first few suggestions, but I would be more than happy to hear proposals from enthusiastic readers coming to the club.

[close] I started this group in hopes that my fellow novella lovers would like to write a novella series together. Two minds are better than one, but many minds are better than two. If we all were to work together and discuss every aspect of the series, we may just come up with one amazing series! Or maybe more than one series! Who knows! Anyway, this is meant to be a respectful place to come and collaborate.
