[close] The Muse Writers Center is Coastal Virginias' very own literary center, and since the early 2000s, we have grown into one of the top-10 writers centers nationally, with a vibrant space in central Ghent featuring five classrooms, a semi-private writers room, a recording studio, a library, and an auditorium for readings and special literary events as well as art exhibits. Unlike a college or university, we offer creative writing classes and seminars for beginning, experienced, and professional writers. This year, we are on pace to host 1,500 students in 300 classes for adults, pre-teens, and teen writers. We host in-person, hybrid, and online only classes, social clubs, and events, reaching writers and readers across the globe. Because we believe in the transformative power of the literary arts, our aim is to embrace both established and emerging writers as well as those who want to write but haven’t had the opportunity to be guided by great teachers. [close] Join our "professional" book club. We'll be reading and discussing books that highlight successes and failures that can inspire us both on a business level and on a personal level.

[close] A circle of people preparing to publish their next/first book. Looking for beta readers? A critiquing partner? A review? Just looking for a free read? Then you've come to the right place. There are three parts to this group. I just want to read free stuff: The name says it all. Here you can go through the list of works on offer, and request a copy from the author. Critiquing circle: for those who want constructive criticism to improve their story before publishing, akin to what an editor in a publishing house would offer. This part of the group will be limited to ten people to make it easy to manage. It is for the Indie who is serious about their work (and who would rather avoid negative reviews by fixing problems before publishing). Beta/critiquing partners: a place where you can find a beta match. Here you can go through the list of books on offer by others looking for a beta-partner.
