[close] Welcome to the official Goodreads page for James River Writers. JRW is a non-profit organization which builds community by connecting and inspiring writers and readers in central Virginia. This group page on Goodreads will serve as JRW's flagship for introducing its members to the many fantastic writers who have spoken at our annual conference and other events throughout the years and at this year's upcoming conference. Our next conference is being held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in October. Starting in March 2013, we plan to highlight two books each month for reading and discussion on our boards. Threads in our message boards will include analysis of the writer's craft, but we also plan to include threads for simply discussing what you like or don't like about each book as a reader. One of the two books selected will include one for adults. The second selection will be intended for younger audiences (young adult, middle grade, etc.) in an effort to encourage teenagers to read. Whenever possible, we hope to have the writers join in these discussions. We're very excited to be expanding JRW's presence online, and hope this reading group will provide a fun environment for our many members to discuss the craft of the written word. While this group is not limited to our organization's members, we hope those who join in our discussions here will be encouraged to and help support JRW.
