Something stirs withing the young people of Venice and one by one, they slowly break free from the illusion that had confined them for so long. Once they realize the Lie and accept the Truth, they are forever changed - some gain the ability to Shift, others to Drain; some to Cast, yet others simply See. The event that triggers their glorious transformation is usually a traumatic one, occurring between the ages of thirteen to sixteen - although there are some cases of late bloomers, or even early bloomers. Some even born Awake, but such cases are rare and few. There are those who Know, and seek to continue to hide the Truth from those who still Slumber through the Banal-Deception. They are the Dreaming, and they are Legion - numberless and infinite; yet they are a select few. They strive to keep the Mysteries a secret and use it to rule the world.
