[close] We hear about the gender gap all the time — in pay, in computing and science fields, in leadership. But one gender gap we don’t hear about as often is the literary gender gap. Female authors are much less likely than male authors to have their books reviewed in major publications like the New York Times and Harper’s Magazine. The American Association of University Women (AAUW)’s commitment to intersectionality and looking at women’s issues through various lenses has enabled our book club to move forward (¡Adelante!) for more than 20 years. Read with us as we spotlight engrossing stories and powerful writing by women from all backgrounds. [close] Honors Written and Oral Communications class will participate in this group by reviewing books we have read on Goodreads, adding books we have read, are currently reading, and want to read to our bookshelves, recommending books to fellow group members, and participating in online class discussions and polls during our year-long Independent Reading Unit.
