In “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini, i strongly feel that the tragic hero was Baba. Baba was a very wealthy man, he had american products, no one in Kabul had any u.s products. Baba was also famous in a way because everyone in Kabul knew him, respected him, and thanked him for all the good he has brought to them by donations and other good deeds. His fall occurs not because of hubris but because all the money he was basically throwing away to everyone. Towards the ending of the novel Baba dies becuase of a lung cancer caused by smoking, he went from being a powerful man to loosing everything, moving to san fransico with his son, to dying in his sleep. In my opinion Baba was a tragic hero in the book.
In the novel "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini Amir's cathartic journey began when he saw hassan (his friend/servant) get raped with-in pages 75-77. The reason why I feel that the protagonist's cathartic joourney began there is because he turned his back to his friend, started to feel ashamed, and depressed about that action that he took. Which lead to framing hassan so he can leave. Towards the end of the novel Amir like lost all his wealth, there was a point in his life where he lived and a big house, with marbel floors, sliding door, and above all american products. Amirs father Baba was well known for helping other people, life was almost perfect for Amir, until he saw Hassan get raped by Assef.
