102940 I took that trip myself -- in 1986 -- from Gilgit in Pakistan, up over the Karakorams, in the footsteps of Alexander the Great (who left lots of blue-eyed people in his army's wake), then down into Western China to Kashgar (where Marco Polo slept). Want to see what the 15 c. was like? Go to Kashgar! Ox carts with wooden wheels; hotels with "civilization". Best land trip on Earth!
102940 I'm online. Any questions or comments about The Rowan Tree? I was looking for a movie tagline and came up with "Camelot meets West Wing." If you've read the book, maybe you've got an alternative.
