103376 I am very happy to hear you like my poem, Christa. I wrote it as a song but I think it works well on the page as a poem. Certainly you can include it in your book. I have always liked the verses scattered throughout the pages of The Lord of the Rings. My favourites are the Verse of the Rings, the Song of the Ent and the Ent Wife, I Sit Beside the Fire and Think,
the Lay of Nimrodel and The Road Goes Ever On.
103376 It was a nice surprise for me to read your comment on the words of my song, Lucinda.I'm glad you like them, to say the least. I wrote them one summer, after a visit to a pine wood. It is the light of the Silmarils, fashioned by Feanor, and the tale of Beren and Luthien, which saves The Silmarillion for me from being a dark history of war and downfall, alone, and which inspired me to write my song.

103376 I did the Land of Shadows Quiz. I got 46 out of 60 questions right. Well done, I was told at the end and was given a Dunadan rating, which is quite good. A good quiz. I enjoyed it.

103376 A very good quiz. Enjoyed it. I got 20 out of 20 for level one, 14 out of 20 for level two and 12 out of 20 for level three, so I got 46 out of 60 in all. Well done, I was told at the end, and was given a Dunadan rating, which is quite good.
103376 I thought this might be a good place to share a song I wrote, inspired by the tale of Luthien and Beren from The Silmarillion. It seems to work well on the page as a poem.

Song For Luthien Tinuviel

Feanor he made the Silmarils,
Revealed his power and his skills,
Precious jewels of the Elven kind,
Majesty moulded from his mind.

Elf maid, Luthien Tinuviel
Danced, held aloft a Silmaril,
When I saw her laughing through the trees,
Her white dress blowing in the breeze.

Entranced, I was lying on the grass,
Saw Elven folk through a shining glass.
I saw Elves the lays of old had sung,
Tall Elves from when the world was young.

Feanor, his blue stone tower tall,
Faraway, saw behind a wall.
Felt I was poor in my heart and soul,
I was a fish, lost by the shoal.

Felt I was young, knowing I was old,
I was a sheep, strayed far from fold,
On my quest over wild moor and fen,
I was lost and was lost again.

Unlooked for beauty came to my eye,
Elf maid dancing beneath the sky,
Queen of Elves the lays of old had sung,
Fair elf from when the world was young.

Luthien Tinuviel
Held aloft a Silmaril.
