Both of these women are thrown together to catch the person trying to kill the influential Vampire Nest Master Damon. They move in with him and pose as his new security, dealing with threats and assassination attempts.
Will they catch the would-be-killer in time?
Will they be able to save the supernatural community from disaster?

Josephine grew up on a farm, a place that allowed her imagination to run wild. She developed a love of reading from an early age, and recently decided to try her hand at writing. Her first novel is 'Fire and Fangs' the first book in the Blood and Flames series.

“We welcome Jason, the Nest of Damon’s representative. We have looked over your case and we have come up with a plan,” Nick began. He handed a folder to Graham who passed it to Jason. “You can give that copy to your Master and I will quickly outline the plan for you now. As I’m sure you can appreciate, we are very busy and I would like to answer any questions you may have quickly so as not to waste either of our time.”

Nick was nothing if efficient. His dark hair had some silver strands at his temples, more if he let his stubble grow out a bit. His eyes were haunted; like me, he had been through quite a lot of shit and it had hardened him. Crow’s feet came from his eyes, showing that not all his life had been a disaster, but that another story for another time. Nick was built like a tank, all muscle and no brawn you would think, but no, he is actually the mastermind behind the operation that employs me. Without him I would be dead. After my parents died he took me in, I won’t say he raised me, because he didn’t really, he is more of a trainer who let me live with him.

“Agent Malone and Agent Jenkins will go undercover as Master Damon’s newest bodyguard and concubine. I would advise that Agent Malone stand for bodyguard and Agent Jenkins the concubine. Agent Malone is one of our best, while Agent Jenkins is still green and has a lot to learn, although I am fully confident that she will learn from Agent Jenkins in the running of a big operation. Let me assure you that Agent Jenkins is fully capable of guarding Master Damon, especially if the threat is from within. Master Damon will be protected in private and in public.” This was the first I had heard of any threat to the Master of one of the strongest Nests in Winter Haven.

“Do you have any questions?” Nick asked after a while.

“Yes,” Jason said. He put the folder down and looked directly at Nick. “How do you expect two women to protect the Master of the Nest?” the way Jason sneered out the word made me want to make him eat sawdust.

“Both women are well trained. Agent Malone is a seasoned fighter,” Nick countered.

“Agent Malone doesn’t look a day over twenty five. Master Damon is four hundred and twenty three.”

“Agent Malone has a few tricks up her sleeve, if you want her to demonstrate. You will take my advice and hire her. Agent Jenkins ranked top of her year in the academy and shows excellent promise. I wouldn’t send Master Damon people who didn’t know what they are doing. You hired the company to seek out this threat and protect him from it and that is what my women will do.” Nick defended me, but of course I couldn’t keep my mouth shut. I pinned him with my best confident and condescending stare.

“Having women,” I said with the same sneer he used before, “guard your Master will entice the attacker to attack, especially if they share the same view of us as you do. We will be seen as ‘easy pickings’.” My stare dared him to challenge me.

“Agent Malone could have put that a bit more eloquently. She means to say that women could possibly lure the attacker out better than a man as a woman wouldn’t give the attacker too much pause for thought if he is as confident as he seems to be,” Nick corrected, fixing a glare my way. I shrugged and sat back in my chair.
“Unless the attacker is a woman,” Keri stated. “I think if it is a woman, she would attack Master Damon quicker in private, especially if she thinks I’m a concubine. Chances are she will attack me first. Dispatch the ‘squealer’.” I looked at her, admiration in my eyes. It wasn’t an angle I had thought about. Usually it would be another male vamp wanting to take over the Nest. She had a point but we would have to figure a good enough motive if we were to go down that route.

Our eyes all swung to Jason, waiting expectantly. He didn’t look happy. His eyes burned. Eventually, he nodded.

“I will take this proposal to my Master and someone will contact you.” He got up and left.
