104546 Yeah boys are XY and girls are XX. Chromosomes are really important for example, kids that have Down Syndrome, aka trisomy 21, have something wrong with their 21st chromosome. This is because the egg or sperm created an extra copy of that chromosome, so while the average child usually only has 2 of each type of chromosome the child with downs has 3 of their 21st chromosome. It's amazing how something seemingly insignificant can have such a major effect on a persons life.
Books on genetics tend to be boring unfortunately, but they are informational. It takes a lot to read through them, good luck!

104546 I was the same way Brandi! This book is phenomenal. There was one point towards the end that had me crying on the metro, this book is simply fantastic and there's not a lot of difficult prose. I feel so bad for these women! If you haven't read The Kite Runner I strongly sugget that one too. I haven't read the authors latest book, but I'm confident that will be a good read as well.

104546 Sometimes you can find the book for particularly cheap on Amazon or Barnes and Nobles. Barnes and Nobles has it for $1.99 used and whatever shipping is. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/rabbi...

104546 It looks interesting. I haven't read any memoir type novels that are located in Australia.

104546 Both are certainly worth the time! Gatsby may be more expensive right now since they just remade the movie. The Poisonwood Bible is a phenomenal book. It's about a minister and his family and the mission trip they take to Africa.

104546 Well, they got married because they fell in love in a day. Then when they spent years together they learned they weren't too fond of each other. They treated each other awfully out of spite. A lot of people have one person in this world, or have felt about someone for a little while this way, that they wouldn't pee on if they were on fire. That was pretty much the point she reached in her first two marriages. I'm not saying that what she did was right, just that I can understand it. Hate and love are powerful emotions and people are often shocked by what they enable them to do.

104546 I was raised in Mississippi so reading the southern slang was easier for me. It may help if you read aloud when you have trouble. This may be a spoiler so if you haven't read about the angry dying husband be wary. If I'm remembering correctly, I think he gets suddenly mean because she insults him in front of the men of the town, she basically says he's old and sagging. He's furious with her for embarrassing him in front of the town.

104546 Hi, I'm Ashley from Virginia. I don't really have a specific favorite, but since I recently re-read it I'll go with The Great Gatsby. I also really enjoyed The Poisonwood Bible.
