Thank you for coming to my first Q & A on goodreads :)You can find me at my website (erpierce.com) and updates on my blog (erpierce.com/blog) I'm on Facebook (facebook.com/authorerpierce) twitter (@e_r_pierce) G+, linkedin, and a billion other places too :)
I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedules to chat with me.
Fondly,

ewww. Aw man. I can't think about that :shudders:I'm afraid of heights - but I LOVE LOVE LOVE rollercoasters.
Thank you. Once I saw the model I knew I wanted her on my cover. She isn't what Cordelia looks like in the book, but it's a good representation of her two sides, her supernaturalness, and I loved the dark clouds and water. It just screamed at me to use it :P
I don't like spiders either. The other night I watched arachnophobia on TV with my dh and I was soooooo creeped out at bedtime. I'm afraid of losing one of my kids.
Hi Elizabeth :) You're not late. Welcome!I am an introvert by nature, so social media allows me to open up and chat a little more than I would in real life with people I don't know. I've met some amazing friends as a result. However, there is also more drama, more people pretending to be someone other than what they seem, and let's not even talk about the marketing aspect of writing/social media.
I have a love/hate relationship with social media :) I enjoy interacting with fans, friends, and family, but I wish I could get away from unnecessary strife that isn't my business though sometimes feels like my business, you know? Mob mentality.
Me! I did!
I am a super control freak, but I love the KISS method for covers. Are they perfect? Hell no. Do I love them? Yep. Do they capture the vision from my mind and bring the idea to fruition? Indeed.
What do you think of my covers?
The elemental powers, Sara? Or the filtering light and darkness? Either way - Empathy is a gift and curse. Feeling what another feels, or sensing what lies under their surface is difficult. Especially knowing you can't do much to help, that they have to choose for themselves.
As for the elemental powers - I think it would be pretty freaking awesome to be able to do what Cordelia does at the end of Duality - but also terrifying. There would be a huge pressure knowing what you can do to someone if you set your mind to it. "With great power comes great responsibility" ;)
Ha! You know, that is an awesome question :P No, sadly the lovely legs aren't mine. Though I have been told I have nice legs. ;)
I should clarify and say that I identify with all my characters on some level, but it is often easier for me to get in the mind of a female versus my male characters.
Hi Jackson!I love books, but my first love will always be Eve and Roarke from J.D. Robb's In Death series. I own every book in the series (38? now I think) both in ebook and HB/PB form. I've re-read them many times. Every time I open an In Death novel it's like being back with old friends.
I'm a huge fan of Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews - Ilona and Gordon are so amazing at world-building and snappy dialogue.
Of my own writing.... A little tougher. I have a soft spot for Aurelia from Fractured Moon, but I identify most with Cordelia from Duality. Every book I've written has come from an inner emotional place, and so there is a part of me in every character.
I know - y'all see me spout off about my hellspawn often, but are you wondering if they are real? I can tell you, some days it feels like I have a million kids and I belong in a shoe. I do, in fact, have four children. My eldest will be nine next month and my youngest just turned three. My two middle (Geezus, are they ever the middle children!) are five and seven. So, that's 3, 5, 7, and 9.
They outnumber my husband and I, and some days we want to huddle together on the floor wrapped in each others arms for safety, mumbling like Goldie Hawn in Overboard. Bub, Bub, Bub, Bub, Bub...
I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world though. They enrich my life, give me purpose, and make me so sleep deprived I was able to write some pretty cool prose.
My youngest daughter (7) is in love with unicorns, the color pink, and primping.
We call my eldest daughter (9) the animal whisperer (She has a lovely gift with animals)
We call my youngest son (3) the two headed monster because one moment he will be rubbing your head with the sweetest smile telling you he loves you, and then the next second he is gauging out your eyes and rolling on the floor like a spawn of Satan.
My older son (5) is incredibly abstract in his thought patterns and recently began asking us these awesome questions like ... "What happens when numbers end?" As well as, "What's it like to be a mushroom?"
This is the Would you Rather, game. The first person asks a question - Would you rather and supplies two scenarios and then the next answers then asks two more scenarios...E.G.
Would you rather be able to fly, or run super fast?
A: I would rather run super fast -
Would you rather be a chicken or a snake?
Got it? And....Go!
