107940 I agree with Start. Having the group read discussions on goodreads was very helpful for me. Even though I felt behind, it was easy to read everyone's thoughts once I caught up. And, I didn't feel any pressure to hop around one particular day. I hope others liked the discussion being localized on good reads.

I do plan on posting a review. I have my draft done. Now, it's just a matter of me cleaning up my draft to publish. That can be tricky for me these days as I am struggling with that part if blogging right now. I will, however, get to it fairly soon.

107940 Darn...I fell behind and I really did not want that to happen. Another book demanded my attention; a pretty deep book that didn't lend itself well to sharing reading time. I am starting back into reading this book tonight. I won't have a review to post on Monday but I will post one in the near future. I also look forward to reading everyone's comments here on good reads --- will read them as I get to each week's point. (I am starting week three reading)

107940 I am abit further than the end of week two's reading. Can you say specifically what upsets you with Geder? I think I have an idea.

Ditto regarding the apostate. I am quite intrigued by him.

I agree with you Sue. I too felt that Cithrin was very strong emotionally and psychologically. And she has displayed intelligence too. I am thinking she is gong to have a lot to offer this story.

I completely agree with you Sue. I had the same thoughts as you while I was reading.

I agree, I like that we are seeing the characters from different perspectives. It gives more insight which leads to not one being overtly evil and another overtly good.

107940 Fabulous Sue. Thanks for sharing the link.
107940 This book is working for me completely.

The world has been built enough for me to buy into it, and yet there is room for it to grow and develop. I appreciate that Abraham is showing the world rather than setting it all up in the beginning. That gives a lot of depth potential for other books in the series.

The politics and economy have been shown in brief amounts to know that there are layers waiting to be shown as time moves forward. I appreciate the small amount of details given...bit by bit...because I tend to bore of too much politics given in large doses.

The characters are all intriguing, and developing. They are smoothly working into the plot and not one seems forced to fit a scene. I really like how each character interacts with other characters and the environment. And I am very curious as to how each character storyline will eventually intersect with the other storylines.
107940 The alternating chapters are working for me. However, I tend to like this style of storytelling. I like jumping from one character to another --- it gives me different perspectives on the world, characters and even the timeline at times. For me, it keeps the story moving without me feeling bored as the change up keeps things from becoming stagnant (usually).

I will say, this style reminds me a lot of the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. I also am reminded of The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. These books are different but I cannot help but feel there is similarities within The Dragon's Path.

Yes. I was creeped out, and yet at the same time I became very curious as to how that could be and what that means for the entire story, the prologue was fantastic. It hooked me right in; so many questions needing answers.

Otherwise, there hasn't been any surprises for me, per se. Not that I anticipated any of it either.
107940 There really isn't anything that I can say is not working for me. Although, getting a handle on the races is difficult especially since I cannot remember their names. But like Carl said, it seems that Abraham is "showing" rather than "telling" about the races so that makes me okay that I don't have a handle on them yet. I figure that will come along for me. At this point, I am getting a better handle on Cithrin's race --- the characteristics. But even still, I am hard pressed to remember the name off the top of my head.

107940 I am very much intrigued by the apostate too. I am curious how his story will intersect with the others. There was a time or two that I forgot about him though, but only then for a thought to pop into my head of "wait, how does the apostate fit in? What will be revealed?"

Cithrin, is by far, the character that intrigues me the most. I really like how her character is growing.i was quite impressed with a few scenes which highlighted her intelligence; she is sharp. I thing....and hoping....that there is a lot of potential for her to continue to grow. I think she is a main player for sure.

Besides Cithrin, Marcus has caught my attention. His backstory has certainly added to grabbing my attention, and the fact he seems to be a downright good guy who will take no nonsense while also doing things with integrity. I also enjoy the banter between he and Yardem.

I don't care much for Geder, but I also think that he has far more potential to be someone of authority; a player to contend with. He just needs to grow a bit more into his boots. I have not ruled him out as a character that I will like, but for now he is just ok to me.
