Generic YA Book Has: A Girl
Who is not like other girls (she’s special)?
She has Daddy Issues
Has a troubled past (preferably a death but an abusive mother will also do)
Doesn’t know she’s beautiful (a boy will have to tell her)
She’s so cool she stands up for people
Has Perfect hair and Captivating eyes (green or blue because no other eye colour exists)
But has a bland personality
A Boy
He’s a Bad boy with a troubled past
Always handsome and has special eyes (this is mentioned in every other sentence)
Pursues after girl even after she says no (because he can’t seem to get away from her captivating eyes)
He would be considered a stalker in any other situation but he’s way to handsome for that (plus it’s love)
Has perfectly messy hair
Rides a Harley and has a leather jacket (why wouldn’t he)
But has a bland personality
A Plot:
That’s so bad it’s almost non-existent
Very generic and predictable
Bad writing
Probably written by a teenage girl
Sentences like these:
Her eyes (insert random adjective)
His hair (insert random adjective)
I pull her close to me
The wind swept passed my hair
My heart was beating so fast
Gosh her hair smelt like flowers or anything else
My heart was breaking
Conclusion:
They’ll probably make a movie about this.
Hi , I'm writing a kind of satire book about YA.Like gathering all the stereotypical things and making it into one book.
Do you know any commonly used tropes in YA?
I already got this:
(I'll copy and paste it)
