Hearing Hannah's voice would have made it that much harder to leave. Were you satisfied with Hannah's choice at the end to turn to the gangster gramps to keep the daughter safe? I think it was the only solution. Better to be aware of each others boundaries, the threats are known as opposed to wondering when or where the 'bullet' may hit.
A handwritten note is more personal than a text or email. A phone call invites argument, wasted time on his part, draMA. i DO FEEL THAT A PHONE CALL LETS hANNAH KNOW THRU VOICE AND INFLECTIONS JUST HOW EITHER SCARED OR SERIOUS oWEN WAS. Just looked up and saw caps so SORRY!Handwritten is something she can keep. Personal.
I was comfortable with the weaving of Longfellow's past with current lives. His poem is a favorite of mine. I hope to hear the Christmas Bells in a few days. I've never been to Boston, only in the movies. The Southern perspective, Deanne, is one I have had to embrace since moving here. Acceptance of all. It's the librarian in me.
I've not read the book yet, but am curious how the author feels about eating octopus. I won't touch it.
I hope this post creates interest in plotting other novel journeys across our United States, esp. now, since we cannot travel and visit we certainly can experience these wonderful places thru the pages of the books we read. Thanks, Karyn!
